In picturesque Bernardsville set atop a mountain is this gorgeous home, originally designed by esteemed East Coast architect Jim Timpson. Our role was to redesign a home that would take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the Somerset Valley. The symmetrical H-shaped floorplan was reinforced by classical dormers and newly designed, integrated roof lines of the rear façade by developing a second floor for additional bedrooms. To enhance the Colonial style of the original design, we applied detailing to the eaves and brick-arched louvered panels as well as a welcoming entry porch. The overall composition of forms created a distinguished cottage to stand out among its grander neighbors on the mountain.
