Today, May 26th is Memorial Day 2014 in New Jersey. Memorial day is a US holiday dedicated to honoring and remember those who died while serving in the military. Memorial day was formerly known as Decoration Day.  In 1971, Congress declared it a national holiday.

If you are in the Memorial day spirit, watch this trailer for Honor Flight. Get some tissues, because it may make you cry. Here’s the story, a memorial building was constructed almost 60 years after World War II.  Many veterans never had a chance to visit or even see the memorial built in their honor. This documentary follows the story of four World War II veterans who were given a free trip for them and thousands of other veterans to see the memorial building. Here’s the original trailer that inspired over 28,000 individuals to pack Miller Park in Milwaukee for a world record-shattering screening.

In Flanders Fields
by LtCol John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Living. Long days ago
We died, felt sunset, saw dawn glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Hiland Hall Turner Architects would like to thank the dedicated servicemen and women that fought and died for our freedoms. We will never ever forget what you did for us.
